Mike Donehey has seen his fair share of the unexpected. Following a potentially fatal car crash as a teen, Mike learned to play the guitar while still in bed recovering from his injuries. Learning the guitar gave birth to songwriting, and that songwriting led to the formation of the band Tenth Avenue North. Following twenty years of touring and radio success with hits like Love Is Here, By Your Side, You Are More, Losing, Worn, I Have This Hope and multi-week number one smash Control (Somehow You Want Me), Mike is launching his next chapter as a solo artist, a speaker, writing his second book – the follow-up to his best-seller Finding God’s Life for My Will – and hosting the weekly podcast Chasing the Beauty on the AccessMore network, where he and his guests look for God in unexpected places.
Mike released two EPs in 2021, Work of Art and A Father & Two Sons. His first full length solo-album came in 2021, Flourish. He directs to Psalm 126 that in Christ he has what he needs to truly flourish. “If you want more joy, allow sadness,” Donehey says. “Grieve to get where you need to go because the more you shrink your sadness, you’re numbing the pain of hope. Flourish isn’t an album of naivete, it’s acknowledging that I was in a desert to appreciate the streams running through it”.
